Thursday, July 2 was a MONSTER day in the United Pro-Am SL — 12 games, fireworks everywhere, and one player who simply refused to be stopped no matter what the scoreboard said. Let's get into it.
The headliner: Las Vegas Viperz swept a two-game set against Virginia Old Dominion, winning 87-77 and 104-98, to stay a perfect 6-0 on the season. But here's the thing — Virginia Old Dominion's nuutFN played like a man possessed and still ended up on the losing side. In Game 1 he dropped 43 points and 17 rebounds — a double-double — and in Game 2 he followed it up with 43 more and 12 boards, another double-double. That's 86 combined points across two games and Las Vegas Viperz still walked out with both W's. IIIMDELIII was a wrecking ball on the glass for Vegas in Game 2, pulling down 20 rebounds in the win. The Viperz are rolling, and they're doing it with depth — TrustKoob dropped 48 in Game 1 to lead all scorers on the day. Six-and-oh. Somebody stop these people.
Virginia Old Dominion had a wild Thursday overall — they went 3-2 on the day, which sounds fine until you realize they were everywhere. They swept Armed Robbery in two — 90-74 and 91-86 — with Mxves2saucey-_- leading the scoring and paidwaykem of Armed Robbery dropping a jaw-dropping 23 assists in the second game, a double-double, in a losing effort. Twenty-three dimes. In a loss. Wild. nuutFN also put up a double-double in a third game — 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists — as Virginia Old Dominion took down another opponent 95-83. The man played in five games today and produced in every single one.
Over in the Splashtopia universe, things got interesting fast. FoxFiveChips went absolutely nuclear — in one game he posted 34 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists, a triple-double, and in another he put up 12 points, 16 boards, and 12 assists, another triple-double. Two triple-doubles in one day. Meanwhile his teammate Greatest4it dropped 43 points in a loss to an unnamed opponent and 43 more in another game — but Splashtopia split their results, going 2-2 on the day. They beat the unnamed opponent 83-76 and knocked off Legacy Warriors 88-71, but dropped a 107-103 heartbreaker and also fell in a shortened game 10-2 to Legacy Warriors. Speaking of Legacy Warriors — they split with Chicago Ice Boys too, each team winning on the other's floor, with Seker2K dishing 15 assists in the Chicago Ice Boys win and FNSnxggy hauling in 15 boards in the Legacy Warriors win. The ELITE conference is a war zone right now.
